Family Tree Tuesday- National Digital Newspaper Program

Each week, I will share with the rest of the My KinConnections family a site that I bookmarked this week. Hope this helps, and enjoy the journey :-)

When I first started working on my family tree, I didn't even think about searching historical newspapers. The entire family tree exploration process can seem a bit overwhelming for an amateur. One area recommended is to use local newspapers. Often times, people posted wedding announcements, births and local events in newspapers. This information can provide insight to your ancestors.

The Library of Congress and National Endowment for Humanities partner to create the National Digital Newspaper program. The digitalized pages are available from Chronicling America website.

There are select states included right now, so check it out today!
